Why Travel to Disney?

When my wife (then girlfriend) initially said to be about holidaying in Disney together (I was 23 at the time), I was initially a little dubious.  I recall going in ’97 when I was 13 with my parents and siblings.  I had a good time – as one would expect for a teenager going to Florida.  However, when posed with the question 10 years later, I couldn’t help but fall into a (stereotypical) view that Disney was just for kids.  I asked her, why travel to Disney?

I could have sworn she was on commission when she tried to persuade me to say yes to going.  It was all very convincing.  However, it got my holiday mindset in place, and I was soon willing to go.  After all, I saw how happy it made her, and I wanted to share that with her.

The long story short, within a space of 3 years we had taken holidays in Florida with the intention of visiting Disney; the most recent being our honeymoon!

Why Travel to Disney?

When asked the question, why travel to disney, I can’t help but say

because it’s totally awesome!

However, nowadays I try to make people see that Disney is not just for kids at all.

Walt Disney World Resort, Florida is renowned worldwide as a popular holiday destination for families to bring their kids to meet their favourite cartoon characters.  To entertain the young at heart, the various theme parks are also home to a variety of thrilling roller-coasters such as Aerosmith’s Rockin’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios, and the hair raising Expedition Everest at the Animal Kingdom.  Beyond the roller-coasters, there are also some fantastic reality experience ride such as Mission Space and Soarin’ at Epcot.  There are also a number of popular stunt shows such as Lights Motors Action at Hollywood Studios.

For adults though, there is the Downtown Disney and Disney’s Boardwalk districts which are home to a number of popular bars and clubs.  At Downtown Disney is Pleasure Island and the House of Blues.  Disney’s Boardwalk is home to the ESPN Sports Bar, the popular Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls!

At Disney there are plenty of other experiences for guests of all ages.  The world famous, Cirque du Soleil, puts on a Disney exclusive show, La Nouba, at Downtown Disney.  There are many other experiences featured at different resorts catering for all ages.

For all the family, Disney is home to a wide variety of fabulous restaurants – satisfying all appetites!  A recommendation for couples, is to check out the fine dining options at Disney, at restaurants like Jiko and the Yachtsman Steakhouse.  Dine in comfort with an excellent choice from all menus and wine lists.

So whether you are a big fan of all the characters, or you love the attractions, or have a soft spot for good food, it’s clear that Disney caters for everyone.
