When choosing your accommodation outside of Walt Disney Resort, it is important to get a hotel which provides you with a good base for all the activities you want to do during your stay. It is wise to remember that the majority of people who holiday in Orlando only use their hotel as somewhere to sleep at night as the days are spent enjoying the theme parks, and therefore there is no need to to spend more on a hotel than necessary, when chances are you won’t be spending a lot of your time there! However, everyone likes a little bit of luxury, especially when on holiday, so don’t scrimp too much on your hotel – try to make sure you find one which encompasses the following;
When choosing to stay outside Disney, there are 4 key areas to consider staying;
International Drive is one of the most centrally located accommodation areas in Orlando. With easy access to Walt Disney World, as well as Universal and Sea world, I-Drive is a very popular tourist area, and plenty of British tourists choose to stay here each year. Due to this, almost every tour operator will offer a number of accommodation options on I-Drive, so if you do choose to stay here, it should be reasonably easy to find a suitable hotel. With a number of activities and plenty of restaurants running the length of I-Drive, there is also plenty to do here should you wish to take a break from the theme parks, making it the perfect accommodation location for families.
Kissimmee one of the most authentic American accommodation areas in Orlando, perfect for those who want a bit of insight as to what it’s like to live in the States. With a wealth of restaurants and activities Kissimmee provides the same fun atmosphere as I-Drive, but with an old-town feel. Kissimmee is located close to Disney, so is perfect for those wanting to be slightly removed from all the theme park action, but still have it within easy reach. With accommodation in the area to suit every budget – from economy hotels to 5-star resorts, Kissimmee is an area which proves popular with many travellers, and many people who choose to stay here will return again and again.
Staying at Lake Buena Vista is as close as you can stay to Walt Disney World without choosing a Disney Hotel! Perfect for people whose budget won’t stretch to a Disney Hotel, but still want to be close to the action, Lake Buena Vista is known for its relaxed holiday ambience. With many hotels offering free transport to the theme parks, and some hotels even having Disney’s “good neighbour” status, Lake Buena Vista is perfect for parties who maybe don’t want to hire a care for the entirety of their holiday. With lots of restaurants, and many hotels being within walking distance of Downtown Disney, Lake Buena Vista hotels are becoming increasingly more popular.
If you find yourself thinking you may want to spend more time at Universal than at Disney, is it definitely worthwhile considering staying in a Universal Resort Hotel. Offering extra Universal theme park benefits to Resort guests, Universal Hotels offering unbeatable service and are among some of the most prestigious hotels in Florida. These resort hotels are also perfect for people looking to stay close to the I-Drive area, but without being in the centre of the action. Universal Resort Hotels include;
Each of these resorts are all centrally located and are therefore perfect for accessing all of Orlando’s Theme Parks and other attractions. Remember that above all else, you and your party need to be happy with where you are staying, so try to choose to stay in the area which best suits your needs!
