For many of you travelling to Orlando (even if you’ve been before!), the sheer amount of different types of accommodation can make choosing where to stay quite daunting. With Orlando being known for having the more hotels than any other place in the USA, you can sometimes become bogged down in choice, not knowing where to stay for the best. However, there is one thing most travellers have in common – if they can, they would like to stay in one of Disney’s own hotels.
While making the decision to try and stay in a Disney Resort will help to narrow the vast amount of hotels you’ll be looking at, there are still a wide number of options available at Walt Disney World alone. To try and make this decision process easier, we have listed Disney’s various hotel categories to try and help you digest this wealth of accommodation information more easily, and therefore ensure you choose the hotel which best fits your needs.
Offering all the luxury of a 5* hotel, but with all the comfort and amenities of home, Disney’s Deluxe Villa Resorts will offer 1,2 or 3 bedrooms with a kitchenette, perfect for large families or groups. However, being in a resort, you will also benefit from amenities such as room service, concierge, fitness centres and restaurants.
Walt Disney Worlds Villa Resorts are mainly connected to their Disney Vacation Club programme, and therefore there are fewer rooms available to the general public. If you wish to stay in a villa in Disney, it is recommended that you book as early as possible. Villa Resorts include;
The premier hotels at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Disney’s Deluxe Resorts offer 5* accommodation, alongside a wealth of facilities and amenities. Deluxe Resorts can include a Signature Restaurant, health and fitness centres and larger than average guests rooms, most with spectacular views.
With extra amenities, such as I pod docking stations, top of the line toiletries, room service and a concierge, Deluxe Resorts are the pinnacle of Disney World accommodation. However, for this quality service, there comes a price, and these resorts can be among the most expensive you’ll find while looking for Hotels in Orlando.
Offering better value, but less amenities than Deluxe Resorts, Disney’s Moderate Resorts are the middle ground of Walt Disney Worlds accommodation. With all Resorts offering restaurants and food courts, swimming pools and games rooms, these resorts, with their uniquely themed guest rooms are the perfect choice for families looking for above average amenities with the added luxury and convenience of being on Disney’s grounds.
There are less Moderate Resorts than hotels in any other category, but they do tend to be the most popular with British guests, so it is important to book early if there is a particular resort you are wanting to stay at.
Offering fantastic value, Disney’s Value Resorts are the perfect option for families as they offer unbeatable theming, both around the resort and in the guests rooms. All resorts offer pools and quick-service food courts, however other amenities are more basic (there is no concierge, for example).
Value Resorts are perfect if you’re determined to stay in Disney, but you are on a tighter budget. Don’t be fooled by the name, however, Disney’s Value Resort, while good value in comparison to other Disney Resorts, can still be more expensive than some motels on International Drive, or in Kissimmee.
If you’re looking for a different way to see Disney, and stay in Orlando, Disney’s campground accommodation may be for you! Most popular with American tourists, staying at a campground will give you the opportunity to hire out an RV for your vacation, for example, or even stay in a tent! This can give you a more bonded family experience, or simply a more relaxing experience, if hotels aren’t really your thing.
The biggest benefit to the campgrounds is that you are still in a Disney Resort and will therefore receive all Resort benefits, including pools and restaurants, along with the added benefits of staying in a Disney Resort.
Offering 5* accommodation, with some of the perks afforded to Walt Disney World Resort guests, there are a few hotels within the purple wall of Disney World which are not owned and run by Disney, but are instead accommodation partners, offering the same standard of amenities and luxuries. With award-winning restaurants, supreme architecture and décor, and the standard of service you have come to expect of Disney, these Select Hotels are perfect if you are looking for that standard of serivce, but perhaps with a little less Disney theming and characterisation.
Select Deluxe Resorts offer the same amenities you would find in a Deluxe Disney Resort or Villa and therefore are within the same rough price brand. While at the more expensive end of accommodation in Florida, the luxury that is offered is worth it if you are looking for somewhere of this kind of quality.
